Armstrong Williams: Does life begin at conception? Science has a voice. | WORK ATTENTION

I was convinced without a doubt that life begins at conception. But my conviction was more natural than cerebral. Then I started to think. I could have been wrong. There are simple answers to many of life’s complex questions, but they are often wrong. Furthermore, who gave me the crown of power to decide for others when life began? Problems and quandaries immediately appear.

If life begins at conception, then every abortion is murder—intentionally killing someone. All who facilitate abortions can also be criminally prosecuted for aiding and abetting murder. That would mean millions of murder charges every year.

There will be no exceptions, even for rape, having sex with a close relative, or saving the life of the mother. In fact, embryos are morally pure and without sin. They haven’t had the chance to enjoy life outside the womb. The mother may not have done anything wrong but she is more excited about life than the unborn baby. In other words, by any moral standards, the unborn child seems more deserving of life than the mother.

The United States Constitution would prohibit any state from allowing abortion. The 14th Amendment prohibits the taking of life without due process of law. And a newborn baby is as innocent as a lamb. Is that what the authors of the amendment intended? Abortion was common in 1868 when the amendment was adopted.

In addition, fathers will be responsible for caring for children from conception, paid to mothers in order to improve their health care and reduce the chance of having a child with a disability. or disability, including medical and hospital costs. Courts will need to appoint guardians during pregnancy to manage the mother’s behavior and nutrition to promote the birth of a healthy and strong baby. The father would be required to pay the caregiver as part of the child support.

The Constitution requires a census of all “people” every 10 years to determine the distribution of seats in the House of Representatives among the several states. If the birth begins at conception, census takers will need to screen the women to see if they are pregnant for the right number. The constitution’s one-person, one-choice mandate to draw congressional, county and municipal districts would also require women to be tested within district boundaries for pregnancy. Pregnant women will be entitled to Child Income Tax Credit for embryos or babies in the womb, which will be doubled or tripled if twins or triplets were expected. IRS auditors will be asked to review women claiming the child tax credit for pregnancy and other evidence if twins or triplets were claimed.

The law allows the use of deadly force to prevent any person from killing another. If abortion is the killing of the life of the unborn, then mothers who seek abortions and those who help them may be killed under the doctrine of protection of another’s life .

Section 1 of the 14th Amendment grants US citizenship to “persons born or naturalized in the United States” but not to unborn fetuses or infants. Is section 1 itself unconstitutional because it treats born and unborn children differently?

If the frozen embryos are unborn children, then discarding them is first degree murder.

The Alabama Supreme Court ruled that frozen embryos, that is, unborn children, have the same rights as born children. Killing an unborn child is murder.

Pro-choice advocates deny that life begins at conception. But who gave them that power? Not the United States Constitution.

The law determines whether life begins at conception. And the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision leaves the decision up to the States. The Constitution allows States to punish abortion as murder, to allow abortion on demand, or to choose something in between.

Neither the Constitution nor the law gives scientists the power to decide when life begins, although legislators may consider their opinions when making a decision. A scientific paper published in 2021 reviewed the findings of 5,577 biologists. A very large percentage (or 5,337 biologists) affirmed that life begins at the moment of contact with the egg. It would be wise for policy makers to take into account their views and the views of philosophers or clergy when defining when life begins. There are no easy answers here.

The Dobbs decision began to advocate for pro-choice advocates, who had advanced during the successful Roe v. Wade. Since then, the six states that have held debates on abortion have all passed the abortion law: California, Michigan, Ohio, Vermont, Kentucky and Kansas. By 2024, as many as 12 states could have abortion measures on their ballots, seeking to ensure that the state constitution protects the right to abortion or that nothing in the constitution grants such a right. .

Perhaps the best answer to the question of when life begins is, “It depends.”
